Christian Serratos Talks About Why Featuring Selena's Death Scene Was Important For Netflix Show

Christian Serratos is opening up about the final season of Selena: The Series.

The 30-year-old actress has portrayed the title star on the show since 2019 and speaking with Variety, opened up about one of the most pivotal scenes in the show – Selena‘s death scene.

While the series did not show the actual shooting, it was still an important moment to feature in the show.

“I think it was very important to everyone to only show what was necessary. I think that’s the respectful thing to do,” she stated about showing the end of the Tejano singer’s life.

Christian continued, “This isn’t the story of a tragedy; it’s the story of a wonderful, beautiful woman and I think watching it, knowing what happens, you’re already hit with emotion so it doesn’t need to be gratuitous.”

Selena was shot and killed by the president of her fan club Yolanda Saldivar in 1995. She was just 23 years old.

“It hit me like a ton of bricks that I was walking in the footsteps of somebody who was about to have something tragic happen.”

Both seasons of Selena: The Series are streaming on Netflix now.
