Jessica Chastain Reveals Why She Wanted To Make 'The Eyes of Tammy Faye'

The 44-year-old actress arrived in a blue jumpsuit and left in a chic black jumpsuit following the taping.

Jessica has been promoting her new movie, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, around the Big Apple, after the movie’s premiere during TIFF over the weekend.

Speaking with Parade magazine, she revealed that what drew her to the project was because of “who she was and how it conflicted with my perception.”

“When I first watched the interview she gave with [gay pastor] Steve Pieters [in the mid-1980s, in which Tammy Faye expressed her support for AIDS victims], it was very emotional for me. It was 2012. I got the rights to the documentary and started figuring out how to make a movie,” she added.

Jessica also opened up about the heavy makeup that Tammy Faye was known for.

“I think for her it was a form of self-expression. Having read her books, I never thought of her as being vain,” she shared. “In fact, the opposite; I think of her as being a very creative person. She put her creativity into creating looks for herself.”

The Eyes of Tammy Faye will be out on Friday, September 17.
