Hulu's 'Pen15' Will End with Season 2 & The Reason Why Was Just Revealed

The popular Hulu series Pen15 is ending.

It was just announced that the comedy series, starring Anna Konkle and Maya Erskine as 13-year-old versions of themselves, is ending after the already-filmed season two.

The first part of season two premiered in September 2020 and the second half of the season will start streaming on Friday (December 3).

Pen15 is an R-rated “traumedy” set in middle school as it really happened in the year 2000. Anna and Maya play versions of themselves as thirteen year old outcasts, surrounded by actual thirteen year olds. In this world, seventh grade never ends and the pains of growing up are inevitable.

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that Anna and Maya made the decision to end the series as they’re “ready to take a break from the series that, in total, they’d been working on for nearly a decade.” Hulu reportedly wants to make more episodes of the series and is leaving the door open for the stars to return to the show someday.

Something big happened for both Maya and Anna during the pandemic.
