Jeff Garlin Reportedly Slammed 'The Goldbergs' At Comedy Show Ahead of Being Fired

Jeff Garlin was heard making jokes about The Goldbergs during a recent comedy show, just days before his firing.

According to Variety, the -year-old actor and comedian had joked about his role on the show, essentially trashing the hit ABC sitcom.

The comedy show happened on the week of Thanksgiving at Hollywood Improv, where Jeff told the audience repeatedly that he despised the series and while he didn’t want to talk about it, kept talking about. He also admitted that he was only still on the series because of the paycheck.

While phones were not permitted at the show, much of the report comes from a Variety reporter who was in attendance.

Jeff reportedly shared that his job wasn’t as enjoyable anymore as he has to watch his every move and every word, and he felt like he’s on pins and needles. He said that he had been spoken to by higher-ups at the network about some things he had said, and specifically noted his shock that he can’t use the word “vagina” when speaking in jest.

“A lot of days on The Goldbergs, I sit in a Barcalounger in tighty whities for the whole day, and I think to myself, ‘Who did I blow to get this job?;” adding that after he gets up from the set, he says the same joke: “‘Ah, my vagina. Ah, achy vagina. Ah, my vagina’s killing me.’”

The joke led to an offended crew member reporting it to HR: “I get called in, and they go, ‘Look, you can’t do this.’ And I go, ‘Oh yes, I can.’ They go, ‘You might get fired.’ I go, ‘I’d love to be fired and have it hit the papers: Cover of TMZ: ‘Jeff Garlin Fired Because His Vagina Hurts.’”

“I’m on a comedy. I’m a comedian. Let’s get over. I don’t have a vagina. I think everyone knows that,” he added.

Later on in the show, when asked why he stays on if he hates the show that much, Jeff cited the paycheck.

Earlier this week, Jeff was officially let go from the sitcom following an HR investigation over his on-set behavior.
