On Wednesday night (February 23), Tyler stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his new Netflix movie, A Madea Homecoming, and took the opportunity to confront the talk show host over a years-long grudge.

Back in 2019, Tyler invited Jimmy to the huge opening celebration of his Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, but Jimmy didn’t show up.

“Last time you were here, I don’t know if you remember, was right after you’d opened your big studio in Atlanta,” Jimmy started.

“Yeah, that you didn’t come to the big party I had,” Tyler quipped back as Jimmy laughed. “You got an invitation, that you didn’t come to. That one. I remember. I’m still scarred from it. And you said you’d send me a gift, and I still don’t have the gift. So where’s the gift? You didn’t come, you didn’t send the gift.”

Jimmy then tried to blame COVID-19 for him skipping the party, but the event took place months before virus was known to the general public.

He then tried switch the blame to another famous Jimmy, but Tyler still wasn’t having it.

“I figured it must have been intended for Jimmy Fallon or something,” Jimmy tried to explained. “I was thinking, like, ‘Well why would I be invited to your party?’”

Tyler responded, “Well, it said ‘Jimmy Kimmel,’ and I did a special video to you saying please come. So I don’t know how you could have gotten that mistaken.”

In the end, Jimmy decided to make up for his absence by sending sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez out to the shops on Hollywood Boulevard to find a gift for Tyler, but he didn’t come back with the best gifts.
