The reboot is being directed by Charles Kidd II, known professionally as Calmatic, from a script by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Doug Hall.

Here’s a plot summary: “Harlow is playing the role that Woody Harrelson portrayed in the original film. That movie, written and directed by Ron Shelton, starred Wesley Snipes and Harrelson as street basketball hustlers who begin at odds with each other and then team up for a bigger game.”

The search is still on to find the star who will play Wesley‘s character. They are also auditioning people to play Jack’s character’s longtime girlfriend, an aspiring Jeopardy contestant played by Rosie Perez in the 1992 film.

Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil and Noah Weinstein are executive producing under their banner Mortal Media.

The outlet reports that Jack Harlow‘s audition “sealed the deal and won over the filmmaking team behind the movie.” He also just participated in a big NBA all-star game!
