Taron Egerton Reveals How Close He Was To Playing Han Solo

Taron Egerton recently confirmed that he was indeed in the running to play Han Solo in 2018′s Solo: A Han Solo Story, but took himself out from the process.

The 32-year-old Kingsman star said that he was actually in full costume and on the Falcon before he ultimately decided the role was not for him.

“I felt that that’s…I’ll be honest, I got on the Falcon. I was with Chewie. I was in the full costume,” Taron told Josh Horowitz. “I felt like I got there, I did it, I lived it, and there was another round that I decided not to do.”

“It’s far enough in the past now I feel I can say that. It just felt, to me, I didn’t feel it. You’re following Harrison Ford. No one ever wants to follow Harrison Ford.”

The role of Hans Solo eventually went to Alden Ehrenreich, who will also appear in Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming film, Oppenheimer.
