Grammy winner Ariana Grande is confirmed to be playing the role of Glinda in the movie.

The role was originated by Kristin Chenoweth in the original Broadway production and Ariana actually saw her perform in the show nearly 20 years ago. There’s a photo of them together backstage after the performance!
