Romanian Authorities Deny Pizza Box Led to Andrew Tate's Arrest; Plus, New Details on What's Next for Him

Romanian authorities are denying a viral story that has been spreading on social media following the arrest of controversial media figure Andrew Tate.

The 36-year-old social media personality was arrested in Romania on Thursday (December 29), one day after his Twitter spat with activist Greta Thunberg.

It was claimed that Andrew was arrested after authorities discovered his whereabouts thanks to the pizza box seen in a video that he posted in response to Greta. While it would have been awesome for the young activist to be responsible for his takedown, it’s sadly not true.

“Funny, but no,” a spokesperson for DIICOT told the Associated Press.

The raid of Tate‘s homes reportedly stems from an investigation into two missing girls and was organized by the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism in Bucharest. Five homes were raided by the authorities and four suspects, including Tate and his brother, were “arrested on charges of being part of an organized crime group, human trafficking and rape,” according to AP.

New details about what’s next for Tate have also been revealed.

BBC reports that Tate is being held at a “detention centre” and a Romanian court has agreed to a request from police to hold him for 30 days.

Tate‘s lawyer says he’s maintaining his right to silence.

Greta had an epic response after Tate was arrested.
