Kate Hudson Reveals How 'Daddy Issues' Slowed Her Musical Ambitions Ahead of Debut Album

Kate Hudson is gearing up to release her debut album in 2023. However, it could have come a lot earlier if not for “daddy issues.”

The 43-year-old actress and daughter of Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson has already dominated Hollywood.

She explained how her relationship with her estranged father, who was both an actor and a musician, slowed her musical ambitions down by about 23 years during a recent interview.

“Early on in my career, I thought I would definitely do music,” Kate recalled while on the Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi podcast. Things changed once Almost Famous catapulted her into acting. But she said that she came to realize she didn’t regret that at the time.

“But later on I kind of rejected it because I was like, ‘You know what?’ As you do when you’re dealing with daddy issues. I don’t want to connect to that part because that’s my dad. That’s all dad,” she shared.

Kate continued, noting that “If that one connection that I had to him, I failed miserably at, would be devastating to me. I wasn’t ready for that,” adding that a negative reception would “destroy” her.

The actress and musician also opened up about her love life past and present in the same interview.
