The outlet says that the project will be helmed by Mirrah Foulkes, which will explore the true story behind Sybil, which was “one of the first mainstream cases of dissociative identity disorder, which spurred questions in the public consciousness around identity and mental health.”

Sybil, whose real name was Shirley Mason, was the subject of a 1973 nonfiction book, which focused in on her disorder, and the treatment by her psychologist Connie Wilbur.

It’s rumored that Elle will portray Sybil, with Sarah as Connie.

The new film will pull inspiration and source material from Debbie Nathan‘s 2011 book “Sybil Exposed: The Extraordinary Story Behind the Famous Multiple Personality Case.”

In an earlier adaptation of the 1973 book, Sally Field played the title subject.

Over the weekend, Sarah was one of the many guests at Beanie Feldstein‘s wedding!
