Maren Morris Explains Why She Thinks So Many Female Pop Stars Work With Jack Antonoff

Jack Antonoff is a production superstar, working with everyone from Taylor Swift to Lana Del Rey to Lorde, among many others.

And in a new interview with the New York Times, Maren Morris explained her own reasoning for working with the producer.

“I can’t speak for the other artists that he works with, but my experience with Jack is he’s just so…egoless. It’s not about the stats or the accolades,” she said.

“He’s not pompous at all. I just think that I feel safe with him, also. And also Laura Sisk, his engineer, that is the first time I’ve seen a female engineer always in the room,” she continued.

“Never seen that. I think just his right-hand woman always being there just instantly puts you at ease. That’s why we need a matriarchy…you put more women in a situation, things feel cleaner, things feel safer, for both sexes, not just girls.”

She went on to explain it has less to do with the sound, and more to do with the space.

“It’s just about tinkering around, as long as you kind of want to in this beautiful space. The genre word never comes up.”
