Demi and Max had a whirlwind romance in 2020, that only lasted for a little over six months. The two were first spotted together in March, just as the pandemic was hitting. They were then very public and posted several Instagram photos and stories throughout the summer. In July 2023, the couple got engaged.

In September, Demi and Max celebrated their six month anniversary, but a couple of weeks later, they broke up “to focus on their respective careers,” a source said at the time. After their split, other sources said that she felt he was using her for attention, doesn’t trust him and felt he was sketchy. Things went downhill when he went to Atlanta to film a new movie.

Max said within a few days after their split went public that he found out they broke up through the tabloids. He also claimed a couple of times that she used him for clout.

In April 2021, Demi admitted in a new docu-series that she was shocked by things he did and said after their breakup. That August, she recalled ignoring parts of herself while she was with Max.

She even dropped a diss track called “15 Minutes” on her album Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over that was about him, alluding to him “looking for 15 minutes” of fame.
