Nicholas Galitzine Talks the Iconic Tom Cruise Scene That Inspired Him in 'The Idea of You,' Mary & George's Intimate Scenes, a Failed Audition & More

On rumors he’d been cast in The Fantastic Four…

If you were unaware, Nicholas was rumored to have been cast as Johnny Storm in the new Fantastic Four movie. The role ultimately went to his friend Joseph Quinn. However, Nicholas did indeed have “conversations” about joining the cast.

He revealed that he had to reach out to his team to see if he’d been cast in the role, recalling, “I was like, ‘Guys, I’m sure it’s not true, but I have to make certain it’s not true. And they go, ‘Yeah, it’s not true.’”

On Tom Cruise inspiring him in The Idea of You…

Nicholas revealed that he was channeling Tom‘s iconic dance scene in Risky Business while filming his own underwear-clad scene for The Idea of You.

“I think that’s my favorite scene actually in [The Idea of You] because I think so much about what is talked about with this movie is obviously the more intimate scenes, but really I think the most powerful expression of love is the aftercare in a way and the connection after,” he explained.

For the role, he also pulled inspiration from two iconic boybands – BTS and Backstreet Boys. He channeled them during onscreen performances, noting that he was “not a dancer.”
