Tina Fey & Amy Poehler Call Out HFPA for Having Zero Black Members During Opening Monologue

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are hosting the 2021 Golden Globes from opposite coasts right now.

It should come as no surprise that their monologue really brought the funny – but they did take the time to call out the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. If you don’t know, it was revealed that the organization does not include a single black member.

“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is made up of 90 international — no Black — journalists,” Tina said up top.

Later on in the monologue, Amy said, “A lot of flashy garbage got nominated, but that happens. That’s it’s thing. A number of Black actors and Black projects got overlooked.”

“The point is, even with stupid things, inclusivity is important. And there are no Black members of the Hollywood Foreign Press,” Tina said. “You gotta change that. So, here’s to changing it.”

Tina Fey & Amy Poehler Will Host Golden Globes For Fourth Time From Separate Coasts

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be back as the official hosts of the 2021 Golden Globe Awards.

The two friends and Saturday Night Live alums are returning to the award ceremony stage, but this time from separate coasts, according to Variety.

The decision stems from adjusting to the “realities of mounting such a telecast during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Details surrounded the ceremony, like presenters, and which nominees will be invited to come in person, are still being ironed out.

Variety states that “having two production bases on both coasts would allow for more opportunities to include talent working on the East Coast or in Europe who might not otherwise be able to travel to Los Angeles.”

Amy will host the show from the Beverly Hilton, while Tina will co-hsot from The Rainbow Room in Manhattan.

Tina and Amy previously hosted the show in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

The 2021 Golden Globes will take place on Sunday, February 28 at 8/7c on NBC.

These two stars will be honored at the show this year.
