“I can’t tell you what a comfort Fiona Apple has been during this time,” she revealed during the interview, explaining that she’s listened to it all the time.

Apple’s latest, Fetch the Bolt Cutters, has been Gaga’s constant soundtrack — when she’s cooking, when she’s alone — and it has provided her with another kind of artistic compass. She’s been moved by the way it feels like there’s no distance between Apple’s music and her life,” Billboard explains.

“I just reveled in the way that girl is so herself. Anybody that’s going to tell me somebody is more relevant than Fiona Apple right now because they’ve got more followers on Instagram — I don’t have their number. That right there? That’s culture,” Gaga went on to say.

She also recently opened up about which song on Chromatica was inspired by the trans community.

Fiona Apple Quit Cocaine After 'One Excruciating Night' with These Two Celebrities

Fiona Apple is revealing that two celebrities caused her to quit cocaine after a bad experience. Those two celebrities? Her ex boyfriend Paul Thomas Anderson, who she described as “coldly critical, contemptuous,” and director Quentin Tarantino.

In a piece for the New Yorker, it read, “[Apple] had quit cocaine years earlier, after spending ‘one excruciating night’ at Quentin Tarantino’s house, listening to him and Anderson brag.”

Fiona joked, “Every addict should just get locked in a private movie theatre with Q.T. and P.T.A. on coke, and they’ll never want to do it again.”

In the piece, Fiona described her relationship with Thomas Anderson, and recalled he “left her fearful and numb.” She described one incident after the 1998 Oscars where he threw a chair across the room, but she does insist he never physically abused her. Paul Thomas Anderson is now in a relationship with Maya Rudolph and they have four kids.
