The 36-year-old YouTuber and her 30-year-old content creator partner have been dating since 2013.
Although Jenna quit the social media platform in 2020 and has largely been silent in the years since, Julien has provided some insight into their lives together. He announced their engagement in 2021 and confirmed the wedding news on Thursday (December 22).
The 34-year-old and 28-year-old vloggers confirmed the happy news via a Twitch stream on Tuesday (April 15).
“A little while ago, I asked Jenna to marry me and she said yes. So, we are engaged,” Julien said during the stream. He also showed off his ring, and put Jenna‘s ring on display as well.
The news quickly went viral on social media, with lots of well wishes and happy messages pouring in from fans, leading to their names trending on Twitter.
The two regularly streamed together on Twitch, and they ran the Jenna + Julien podcast for years. Jennaannounced that she was leaving YouTube last year, and has remained largely absent from social media.
Jenna and Julien have been dating since 2013. Congratulations to the happy couple!
Her exit comes after some fans asked her to address several skits from the past, including one in which she appeared to be in blackface as part of a Nicki Minaj impression in 2011.
She explained that there were “things in her past she’s not proud of,” and that she is “moving on from [her] channel.”
“I don’t know if that’s forever, I don’t know how long it’s going to be. I want to make sure the things that I put into the world are not hurting anyone.”
“I’ve tried my best to grow up and to be a better person,” striving to “make fun content, inclusive content, things that don’t offend people or upset people.”
“I’m sorry if any of [my old content] holds any nostalgia for you, but I’m literally not trying to put out negative things into the world. I think there was a time when having all of my old content exist on the internet showed how much I have grown up as a person, which I’m very proud of. I think now it’s hard for that content to exist at all because I think people watch it and don’t bother to look at when it was posted or care about what path I took to get to where I am. It offends them now, and, if that’s the case, where people will watch something and be offended now, I don’t want it to exist…I just don’t want anyone to feel upset about anything. I don’t want to contribute to that…I don’t want someone to watch something and feel hurt or offended now for any reason at all.”
She also went into detail about particularly offensive videos from her past.
