Clive Standen to Play Liam Neeson's Role in 'Taken' Prequel Series for NBC!

Clive Standen is set to star as a young Bryan Mills in the upcoming Taken prequel series ordered by NBC!

The 34-year-old actor, best known for his work on the History series Vikings, will play the role originated by Liam Neeson in the hit film franchise.

The series is set to follow how Bryan developed his skills as a young black ops agent in the elite Emergency Covert Action Team, according to THR.

Luc Besson, the writer of the original film, will executive produce the series alongside Homeland‘s Alexander Cary, who is writing the script.

Liam Neeson's 'Taken 3' Opens Big at No. 1 with $40.4 Million!

Taken 3 took the top spot at this weekend’s box office with a whopping $40.4 million debut!

According to THR, the Liam Neeson action flick scored the second-best January opening of all time, not accounting for inflation.

Coming in second was the civil rights drama Selma, starring David Oyelowo as Martin Luther King Jr., which expanded nationwide and brought in $13.5 million.

Disney’s film adaptation of the musical Into the Woods, starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp, and Anna Kendrick, took third place with an additional $9.8 million gross

Rounding out the top five were The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and the Angelina Jolie-directed war film Unbroken, which brought in $9.4 million and $8.4 million, respectively.

Liam Neeson is Back in Action for Third 'Taken' Film 'Tak3n' - Watch the Trailer!

Liam Neeson is back as totally badass Bryan Mills in Taken 3, officially titled Tak3n.

The film, which also sees the return of Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace, appears to follow Bryan as he is framed for the murder of Lenore (Famke) and is forced to go on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, he must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.

The film is set to be released on January 9, 2015. Watch the trailer below!
