Sarah Jessica Parker Goes West

Fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker spent some more mommy-son time with 4-year-old son James Broderick yesterday afternoon. They pair was spotted traveling through LAX airport. Just last week, SJP brought James to see a performance of “Three Little Pigs” at Manhattan Children’s Theater in Tribeca.

SJP, 41, has two brand spankin’ new movies coming out next year. Here are their brief synopses:

  • Spinning into Butter — A hate crime on the campus of a New England college puts the school’s dean (SJP) in a position where she has to examine her own feelings about race and prejudice, while maintaining her administration’s politically correct policies.
  • Smart People — A widowed and unhappy English professor (Dennis Quaid), alienates his son and turned his daughter into an overachieving, friendless teen. He falls for Janet (SJP), one of his former students, while at the same time his ne’er-do-well brother (Thomas Haden Church).

  • what?

Wait, I’m having a hard time grasping this concept.

You mean to tell me, you can be on a very successful TV show, then take a break to have a child and spend some time with your husband, then make movies that make money at the box office, get nominated for Golden Globes, then take another break and you will still get more movie roles at the age of 41?

Whoa. That blows my mind. Someone should pass along this helpful information along to other TV actresses looking to become movie stars. Only the talented ones, that is.

    by the way, cute kid.

    SJP is strange to me.

  • Cha

Does anyone else have a feeling her son is gonna grow up to be a little fruitcake??

  • what?

Cha – yup he’s cute but i get the same fruity feeling LOL

I thought of the SAME thing! The untalented ones whines and cries saying “men who chooses career over family never gets blamed”.

SJP is TALENTED. I saw her on Broadway acting live. On the other hand the certain MISS Tangerine Nose has no talent; not professionally, not personally.

  • Johanna

aww, her son looks just like his daddy. so cute. =)

  • patsy stone

Yes, why do I think he’ll be raiding Mommy’s closet, trying on her bustiers and saying “Fabulous!”

  • http://www.justjared.com cook

Come on people. There is no way that boy can be determined at this young age.

  • coalharbourqt

    Besane – gotta ask – who’s Miss Tangerine Nose??? I’m curious :-)

Thanks Jared – you’re pulling out all my faves today! Is it Smart and Fabulously Talented Women’s Day or something? Lol!

ITA with What? and besane – SJP shows how it’s done! Can’t wait to see her new films – they sound fascinating. The description of the second one seems to be cut short though – Jared can you fix that? I’d like to know what the rest of the sentence says.

As for James – he’s the spitting image of his Daddy – hope he grows up to be just as charming and talented as him.

I don’t understand the ridiculous comments about this 4 year old being gay when he’s older – not that there would be anything wrong with it in the first place, but what are you basing your comments on? The fact that she’s taking him to plays in Tribeca? When you live in the big city that’s considered a sign of culture folks – not gayness. Open your minds!

  • Izzie

As a long time SJP fan, I admire how she has handled both a career, maintaining her marraige, and raising what looks like a pretty cool kid. SJP is a very good example of how one can have it all, IF they truly want it all (or I should say have enough talent to have it all).

Both of her upcoming movies sound intriguing…glad that she’s getting away from the “Family Stonish – Failure To Launch” genre…

  • huh

He’s four? He’s really small. “Mommy can I wear your Christian Louboutains?”

  • carla

does anyone know what kind of shoes she’s wearing?

  • MaryW

What is it with these Actresses always holding their big kids like infants?
My son at 4 was very independent he always wanted to walk. Yet these
Hollywood Moms let these big kids drink out of bottles and suck on pacifiers
and are always holding them, WHY?

  • Laura

A comment of the kids being held…I would hold onto mine too if there were constant photographers in our face!

  • hi

14 – laura – I agree. I can understand all the clebs wearing sunglasses all the time – must be hell having lights flashing in your face constantly but what about the poor kids – they never have dark glasses on and I’m sure they need them.

  • bo

guys? hello? he’s four. he’s a child. i know that u all are freakingly in love with Gwen Stefani’s child (And. I hate Gwen Stefani), but James Broderick looks enormously cute, and, i quess, he has a strong father-background in his life. So. Give a boy a rest.

When it comes to SJP. I didnt like Sex and the City. I didnt like this comedy shit with Lance Armstrong’s squeeze, but. I adore her fashion sense when it comes to everyday life. So simple. So nice. Maybe not the trainers, but this jacket? Uhhh. This is what i like! And talking about Gwen Stefani… uhmmm.. gimme a Kalashnikov.

  • BuhBuh Brad

I like SJP. None of that stops me from liking JA and disliking Jolie though.

  • chanelconspiracy

What? I’m right there with you. He’s a very cute little boy.

As for the rest of you: I can’t BELIEVE you’re speculating on a young child’s sexuality. I’m dually aghast and speechless. Get a f******* grip.

  • Original Hot Mess

Love love love her and miss SATC so much! These pics just so another example of paps doing wrong, get the lights out of the kids eye you weirdos. I vote no pics of celebs when they are with their kids, unless they bring them to some event with a red carpet.

  • To Buh..

Wow, someone who likes Maniston! BUT, WHY exactly?!

I like Sarah (good mom, talented actress, and looks
like a sweet person), and I miss SATC very much.

  • MaryW

Whatever Laura how about pacifiers and bottles ie kate hudsons fug kid
and others not worth mentioning! you posters here make excuses for everyone
what a bunch of bleeding hearts! wah wah wah. Put sunglasses on their fug
kids and let em walk before they get their little legs get atrophied. Like
Zahara can that kid even walk? even Maddox I see he can walk but is
    usually carted around! LOL

  • Izzie

She is not carrying him in all of the photos, Mary W. If camera’s were rolling and my daughter was only four, I’d most likely pick her up too. I know that being a celebrity robs you of alot of normalcy, but do we really to dissect a four year old boy and his future sexual preferences?

Glad to see she has new films out. Let’s move on already.

  • coalharbourqt

MaryW Says: I’d much rather be a ‘bleeding heart’ than a nasty shrew like you any day – clearly you’re steeped in hate and I *almost* feel sorry for you, but I’m not that much of a bleeding heart I guess. Unless a child is being abused I don’t think anyone has the right to tell a parent how to raise their child or what is best for that child.

Camera’s don’t have anything to do with it. If camera’s are rolling, hold your chilids hand, you don’t have to carry a big child like that,

As for the sun glasses. How can these celebs walks around in the sun with sun glasses and not protect their children’s eyes too, by putting sun glasses or sun hats on them.

Kate Hudson is really messing her child up. The child is 3 years old and still being carried around with a damn pacifier in his mouth.

  • isabella

Ahh..he’s so cute. Look at how hard he’s trying to shield his eyes from the flashbulbs! It’s pathetic that they don’t even have respect for kids! He looks just like his Dad. What a cutie!

  • MaryW

Thank you Blue Diamond I was just saying the same things you did, but you are much more tactful! I didn’t mean to come off so nasty but I sooooo agree with
you about kate hudson everytime i see that big kid in a stroller and a pacifier
in his mouth! LOL It bothers me, teach your child independence and to be
age appropriate is all I’m saying! And definitely hold the childs hand! But too lift a big kid like that c’mon now! right said Blue Diamond put glasses and a sun hat
    on them!

  • MaryW

Sorry Blue diamonds! I really do need to be more tactful in my comments LOL

When you state your case with the tact that you have exhibited in your post 27 I’m much more inclined to really hear what you are saying – and I do appreciate your point. I can only guess that the mothers are doing the best they can by their children – Kate Hudson and SJP aren’t acting like Britney after all (that is a mother that definitely deserves to be scolded).

It’s hard to judge ‘age appropriate’ though – children progress at different rates after all. I’ve worked in a day care before and it’s amazing how varied they can be at the same age. I guess I don’t see strollers and pacifiers as being damaging to a 3 year old coping with his mommy being stalked by paparazzi. I think many of the stars just have a ‘knee jerk’ reaction of picking up their little ones the minute the paps are around – I just don’t think it fair to judge when we aren’t in their shoes as parents, that’s all. Peace :-)

  • donna

Poor James. He must be startled by the paparazzi’s multiple flashes. His boy haircut is so cute making him a scanned copy of his Papa. Mother and Son is visiting Matthew in LA who is currently filming there. They made the trip in mid-January. there were candids of SJP and JW inside a car in LAX.

i admire SJP for balancing her career and family and still keep fabulous. She made her family her priority.

  • Kristy

    Wait, there’s something I don’t get here….

“A widowed and unhappy English professor (Dennis Quaid), alienates his son and turned his daughter into an overachieving, friendless teen. He falls for Janet (SJP), one of his former students, while at the same time his ne’er-do-well brother (Thomas Haden Church).”

Dennis Quaid’s character falls in love with his brother? He falls in love with his former student, while at the same time his brother?

That sentence sounds like it should have something at the end… while at the same time, his ne’er-do-well brother… dies in a car crash? Eats a pizza? Falls in love with a dolphin?

  • coalharbourqt

Kristy – lol – I made the same observation in my first post, but it hasn’t been changed. Certainly intrigues one, doesn’t it? tee hee I like your ‘alternative endings’ – “falls in love with a dolphin”! ha ha!

Jared – can you please tell us what comes after “Thomas Hayden Church” – the sentence is incomplete. Thanks!! :-)

first of all maryw, shut ur mouth u obviously are a horrible mother if you think all these things. hes 4 and if that is what you call a BIG kid than you must be a mother of 18 years old. he is NOT too young to be carried and i would carry my child as much as i wanted to. and hes 4 yrs old lets not put the kid down with the gay jokes. Not that there is anything wrong with being gay in the first place. Some of you people are disgusting ESPECIALLY MARYW.
