Abbie Cornish & Teresa Palmer: G'Day Gala Gals

Abbie Cornish wears a gorgeous gown by Elie Saab on the red carpet at the G’Day USA 2011 Black Tie Gala on Saturday (January 22) at Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood.

Fellow Aussie Teresa Palmer, from the upcoming movies I Am Number Four and Take Me Home Tonight, also hit the red carpet in a chic dress by Australian designer Ellery and shoes from Chloe. Teresa‘s I Am Number Four co-star, Alex Pettyfer, was spotted out on a shirtless run over the weekend!

Abbie dedicated her G’Day USA honor to the late Heath Ledger, whom she worked with on the 2006 romantic drama Candy.

The 28-year-old actress accepted the Excellence in Film award in “Heath‘s memory” on the third anniversary of his death.

FYI: Abbie is wearing White Gold Black Diamond Black Rhodium Ring and White Gold “Dreamcatcher” Black Rhodium Earrings with Amber & Cognac Diamonds by VRAM for GRAY.

Why am I hateful… Christopher..??EH..THAT IS HOW HE DIED ISN’T
IT ..overdose of prescription drugs… addict..8 to 10 bottles of pills
on his bedside table. More in his medicine chest.. So go ahead and
honor a celebrity who died of drugs.. So be it.. Like Michael Jackson
who was lying in his own bed with a IV he could of taken out any time
but did not say NO TO THE DRUGS EITHER..

@Bess Teteri:

I have to agree with Bess. I had the same feelings about Heath Ledger. There are so many people sick, struggling to live and he was just an overindulged drug addict. Add Mary Kate Olsen into the mix – not calling the police. He does not deserve this honour.

Beautiful woman… I’m glad it was dedicated to Heath …we would be surprised how many have a drug problem in Hollywood… So get a life…

Looks like Teresa Palmer did something with her mouth to get invited to events… I’ll love to know more, Lainey?!

@ellie’: I agree,I love Abbie. There is so much hate and ignorance here, the death of Heath was a tragedy he was only 28.

Teddy Bearie @ 01/23/2011 at 5:28 pm

Hey Ellie why don’t you get a life.. really now.. Go ahead and call
on all drug addicts in Hollywood.. who have a child left behind.
Lets just honor a man that had prescription drugs from different
places and who is a addict.. and y did Mary Kate take so looong
to get the police telling the therapist to wait ….but Anna Nicole
body guard did the same thing WAITED…AND THEY BOTH DIED
OF A ACCIDENTAL OVERDOSE.. I DO NOT HATE OR HAVE IGNORANCE TOWARD ANYONE.. Yes he was only twenty eight
years old.. I think it is great that non Australians showed up like
John Travolta..

9/11 was a tragedy. Heath knowingly and willingly took drugs, heroine included – voluntarily. He bamed his problems on his role as the Joker which is laughable – forgive the pun. I liked Heath Ledger as an actor. But he lived in a 2o,ooo a month flat in Soho with a full time maid, personal masseasue and chef. He f– up – took many pills. He was found by his houskeeper at lunchtime – naked and dead in bed. She calls Mary Kate who has her private securiy force go over. Come one – find a better cause to respect than a junkie.

BTW – I love Teresa Palmer.

I find it sad at the judgments that are being placed on Heath. To those who call him a drug addict you know no such thing as truth. He was suffering with insomnia and exhaustion. All of the medication was prescription prescribed and he had minimal amounts of each. It was how they combined in his system to cause his respiratory failure. By all accounts from those who knew him, worked with him and loved him. He was a generous, kind and humble man who liked to help others. Let he who is without sin “cast that first stone”. His death is a tragedy, he left a daughter he absolutely adored behind. I applud Abbie for dedicating her award to Heath. By the way, Heath played a heroine addict, he was NOT a heroine addict. Watch out for that karma those of you who think you know it all and have all of the answers. RIP Heath always to be loved and remembered you will be.

Thank you for that really creepy post.

It’s amazing how complete strangers go upon what the media says. Complete strangers who didn’t even know Heath at all. He was a good man, with conditions that he couldn’t control naturally. He was human for Pete sake, so of course he made mistakes. We all do.

@Lexy: It’s heartless and sick to compare Heath’s death to 9/11. Whoever thinks 9/11 wasn’t a tragedy is not human and Heath’s fans KNOW 9/11 was a tragedy, and aren’t placing him on a pedestal higher than the victims of those two beautiful towers. No one on this page said Heath’s death was a far more devastating tragedy than 9/11. These are FANS of a man they adored; let them cope when and HOW they want.

@Bess Teteri: It’s not that easy to get off of prescription drugs. Most, but not ALL, of Hollywood’s people are addicted to prescription drugs. I can guarantee you that nearly almost every entertainer is on SOME kind of prescribed drug. Hollywood is a DARK place for vulnerable people, and leaves them helpless so they get help. I don’t blame the entertainers for the addictions, I blame the doctors 100%.

Keep on rocking, mate! @ 01/24/2011 at 5:16 am

Heath Ledger, you were a brilliant and beautiful man and we miss you. It’s always nice to see young actors pay tribute to such a great talent gone far too soon.

Hateful losers like Lexy and Bess Teteri will die and no one will give two dumps about them. Lmao!

Is it just me whose first impression was: great dress on Abbie!!? Cause her gown is magnificent!

@Keep on rocking, mate!: Well said, thumbs up. Heath was a sensitive, beautiful artist who was in it for the right reasons, not for money and fame like 99% of young actors today. Long live his memory, he will never be forgotten. Haters gonna hate, can’t touch him and his legacy etc.

@hyoid: It’s not just you, Abbie’s dress is gorgeous.
