Jennifer Morrison: JustJared.com Exclusive Interview

Jennifer Morrison holds up a Just Jared coaster while attending Comic-Con 2011 late last month in San Diego, Calif.

The 32-year-old actress (in Giambattista Valli) met up with JustJared.com to chat about her new film Warrior and her upcoming TV series Once Upon A Time.

Here’s what she had to share:

JJ: You’re in the upcoming film, Warrior, with Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton. What was that like?

JM: Amazing! The guys are just so amazing. It was genius casting – when you have a movie like this, you have to believe that these guys can really be fighters and those are two guys that you really buy [their performances]. They also were completely committed to the entire process of physically training and really living inside that role so that it was real.

JJ: Who blew you away the most?

JM: I don’t know how to pick. They are both so different and both so amazing. I obviously worked more with Joel because he played my husband, but seeing the movie, I just feel like they just balance each other so well. Nick Nolte’s performance was also so amazing.

JJ: What was the vibe like on set?

JM: You know, it was a lot of testosterone (laughs). I was the only girl, literally. It wasn’t just the all male cast, it was also the stunt doubles, and the fighting doubles and the backup fight doubles. I would show up to set and ask [Joel and Tom] if they wanted a home cooked meal and they would plead “Yes.” I would go to Joel’s place and cook a huge thing of pasta and they would all come over. I really just enjoyed everybody on the set. It was sort of one of those heavenly acting experiences where I went back home telling myself I would remember this experience forever.

JJ: What are you looking forward to this year?

JM:: It’s going to be an exciting year. We just started filming the first 12 episodes of Once Upon A Time – we’re just starting now, which has been really exciting. The story lines and the scripts that are coming in have been great. I kept thinking, how are they going to live up to the pilot? Because that was just so special. Everything that has come after that has just blown me away more and more. It’s just exciting to be a part of something that is completely character driven.

JJ: What is your favorite thing about your character (Emma Swan) in Once Upon A Time?

JM: I think how damaged she is. She definitely has an anger problem. It’s interesting to explore that in a character. She is definitely the opposite of me, and to get inside that world and understand that has been a really fun journey.

JJ: What is your favorite thing about acting?

JM: A lot of things – it’s fun to dress up. So that is definitely a fun part about what I do. I enjoy seeing the world. I get to travel a lot and meet a lot of people that are passionate about the same things. It’s sort of a constant motion forward.

JJ: Any guilty pleasures?

JM: I can’t live without my chai soy lattes! I’ve tried to give them up because I tell myself I really shouldn’t be having this much soy but it’s like my safety blanket.
