Michael Fassbender & Mia Wasikowska: 'Shame' at AFI Fest!

Michael Fassbender & Mia Wasikowska: 'Shame' at AFI Fest!

Michael Fassbender hits the AFI Fest 2011 gala screening of his film, Shame, on Wednesday (November 9) in Hollywood.

The 34-year-old actor met up with writer/director Steve McQueen and actress Mia Wasikowska on the red carpet.

“It’s super-easy to have a charged scene with someone as relaxed or as sexy as Michael Fassbender,” cast mate Lucy Walters told the L.A. Times. “But there’s a lot more going on there than just sex.” The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas sponsored the event as well as the after-party!

FYI: Mia is wearing a Miu Miu dress with Prada platform pumps and a Prada clutch.

ugh I can’t wait to watch this movie. I saw A Dangerous Method and he was the best part of the (mostly) boring movie.

Michael is the hottest man in hollywood hands down. I’d be shocked if he didn’t win an Oscar this year.

Uh… then prepared to be shocked because he’s not winning. Come on, the Best Actors race will be tight this year and Michael has never even been nominated. I have a feeling if George Clooney gets nominated (which he most likely might), he will win because he’s been nominated before and the Academy might just think it’s his time. I wish that was not the case, I wish it was solely based on acting (then Michael would have definitely won), but it’s not like that.

In my opinion, I’d be shocked if he didn’t get a nomination, not if he didn’t win. Getting nominated (especially if it’s your first time) it’s a reward in itself.

I’d like to correct that. Either George Clooney or Leonardo DiCaprio might win. If it is between these two, then I choose DiCaprio because, well I just can’t stand Clooney! Also DiCaprio is much more deserving!

But, I truly want Fassbender to win. Maybe someday.

This man is truly gorgeous and talented too. So lovely he and Mia reunited again yesterday. So adorable also how he met and signed autograph for his fans <3

It always nice when a fan gets to meet Michael, they always have such nice stories from the encounter.

Michael Fassbender is a male Meryl Streep and the greatest actor of his generation. He is handsome, yes, but it is his incredible talent that wins fans. Fassbender is a chameleon and he is going to cause alot of pretty boy movie stars to lose roles because they can’t act. Fassbender lights up the screen like nothing and no one else in a long time. Marlon Brando is back and his name is Michael Fassbender!

Colin Firth was never nominated for an Oscar before The King’s Speech and he won. Will Leo and George get nominated? Definitely. Will they win? No, because their previous work is stronger than the one they’re going to get nominated for. Also, I think everyone is forgetting that George Clooney already has an Oscar. It’s for best supporting actor but an Oscar is an Oscar. I can see him winning a Golden Globe this year but not an Oscar. I can’t see Leo winning anything this year but he has a long career ahead of him so I can see him only getting better. I think the Academy expects a lot of out Leo more than anyone and I have no doubt that he’ll win one day. Just not this time.

I agree completely. He’s definitely the best actor out there. The way he can transform is unbelievable. I really hope he doesn’t turn out to be an old man creep like George Clooney. I’m really rooting for this one and I hope he stays likable.

He’s posing and smiling as if he was thinking to himself: ‘uh, I’m ultra hot’

@anon: It doesn’t have anything to do with not being nominated. Remember when Adrien Brody won in 2003? He won over four previous winners!

I agree that Michael Fassbender is a chameleon actor…but I don’t agree that he is a young Brando. I think he is more of a young Robert De Niro. Robert De Niro used to be a great actor…unfortunately in the last few years he appeared to have just tossed in the towel. Maybe because there was nobody to challenge him. Now with Fassbender bringing the heat, hopefully De Niro will wake up and as “The Rock” says “Bring it!”
