Will Smith Mourns Loss of Fresh Prince's James Avery

Will Smith has broken his silence following the death of his Fresh Prince of Bel Air co-star James Avery, who played the role of Uncle Phil.

“Some of my greatest lessons in Acting, Living and being a respectable human being came through James Avery. Every young man needs an Uncle Phil. Rest in Peace,” the 45-year-old actor wrote on his Facebook page. “This photo was the last time we were together.”

Alfonso Ribeiro, who played his onscreen son, said: “I’m deeply saddened to say that James Avery has passed away. He was a second father to me. I will miss him greatly.”
