    At the National Board of Review Awards gala on Tuesday, the Spotlight Awardcelebrated the career collaboration of Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. The two have done five films together, including this year’s The Wolf of Wall Street. “I grew up watching his films, all of my friends were actors, I have idealized Marty and Bob [De Niro] and their work, so I just did everything that I could to have that initial interaction with him,” DiCaprio said before the award ceremony at Cipriani in New York. “And I got to do Gangs of New York, and it’s been five films since then. I’m just lucky that we’ve had similar tastes, and he’s wanted to do some of the movies that I’ve wanted to do, and vice versa.”
    Later in the evening, the two took the stage to accept their award, and did a little Abbott and Costello-style routine that delighted the audience. Here’s how it
    Later in the evening, the two took the stage to accept their award, and did a little Abbott and Costello-style routine that delighted the audience. Here’s how it went:
    DiCaprio and Scorsese [together]: Well, working in tandem with another artist is—
    Scorsese: You go ahead. You go first.
    DiCaprio: No, no, no. Please, I insist.
    Scorsese: No, no. After you. After you.
    DiCaprio: No, honestly. You have a lot more to say about the history of cinema than I do. So you go first. Unless, of course, you want me to go first. Want me to go first?
    Scorsese: I’d like you to go first. Just keep it short.
    DiCaprio: O.K. You mean, like, under-three-hours short?
    Scorsese: Ideally under three hours.
    DiCaprio: It has been an incredible honor for me to have worked alongside a director of Marty’s caliber. Marty and I have made five films together, and ours is like any other long-term relationship. On Gangs of New York we courted each other. On Aviator, Departed, and Shutter Island, our kinship and trust expanded and deepened. Now on Wolf of Wall Street, we’re like any old married couple.
    Scorsese: It’s often overlooked. It’s labor. That’s at the heart of collaboration. Movies are work. They’re a daily battle, and, you know, if you’re going to go into battle, you’d better go with somebody you respect, somebody you trust, and hopefully somebody you like. And Leo has all the qualities I’m looking for in a great actor.
    DiCaprio: You mean like an Italian last name.
    Scorsese: That helps. That helps.
    DiCaprio: There are directors, and then there are auteurs. When one speaks about Martin Scorsese’s relationship to the world of cinema, one must reflect upon its entire history. You can’t just talk about one film. So in commemoration of tonight, I’ve decided to talk about his entire knowledge of the history of cinema. So if you’d just take a moment and go back to 1896, the Mayer Brothers and Thomas Edison… Or we can skip ahead even to D. W. Griffith, with his small hand-crank camera. You know, they’d even have the same perforation on the film stock that we’ve taken for granted today, but…
    Scorsese: I think they get the picture. We don’t need to go back that far, to the perforation of film stock, for God’s sake.
    DiCaprio: But I have, like, another 15 minutes.
    Scorsese: No, no, no. I think the whole point, the natural point is 1909, the early history of cinema.
    DiCaprio: It’s supposed to be about collaboration. We should collaborate on something, do something together.
    Scorsese: Collaborating on something, the idea would be to wrap it up. So let’s wrap it up.
    DiCaprio: So I go.
    Scorsese: O.K.
    DiCaprio: All right. So on behalf of Marty—
    Scorsese: I want to thank—
    DiCaprio: The National Board of Review—
    Scorsese: For this wonderful—
    DiCaprio: Honor as well as—
    Scorsese: Leo—
    DiCaprio: Marty. And—
    Scorsese: For letting—
    DiCaprio: Me—
    Scorsese: Finish—
    DiCaprio: This. Goodnight.

    UGH hes so hoottt

  • Ok

    @OK:
    Hey! You stole my name! And on the last page of the last thread!

  • sorry

    I put the first came on mind. Peace and love

  • Ok

    Margin and him look so awkward. To be honest I think she’s a strong character and that probably intimidates Leo in a way. I mean in red carpets and interviews he goes shy and nervous.
    By the way this is the real ok, the one who posted on 4.

  • Ok

    @sorry:
    ‘Peace and love’ :) good quote

  • Nay

    Both look horrible. Margot’s dress is hideous and Leo looks old and unkept

  • Hannah

    Margins dress is a lovely colour,cut the styles does not suite her as much as it would on someone else! Leo looks good, though! His hair is improving :D

  • Zzzzzz

    I think Leo, overall looks good. Especially when you think about all the traveling and promoting he’s been doing in the last few days. In the photo where he has his hand on his mid section – he looks great!
    re Margot: Beautiful color, but a hideous cut! It looks like someone in their 60s would wear. Also, it doesn’t fit her properly.

  • gee

    these two 100% hooked up…

  • Nay
  • stupid leo

    hmmm leo leo………………..
    Gisele is prettier than toni !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hannah

    @stupid leo:
    It’s matter of opinion. But I agree with you. Gisele is more natural. But I find her personality a little irritating and put in. Still better than Bar and Toni’s smuggness.

  • ####

    @Zzzzzz:

    I agree. I think Leo looks pretty good. He didn’t totally slick back his hair this time which I like!

    I don’t like that dress on Margot. Agree that the color is great but definitely looks like a dress that is best worn by an older lady! LOL

    @gee – totally agree with you. They seem to have some serious awkwardness between them and I think it’s because they did hook up during filming.

  • Zzzzzz

    @Nay: LOL! I think her stylist is trying to make her appear to be on the cutting edge of fashion, but is failing miserably!

  • an

    i can feel the sexual tension from here…he was seen sneaking out of her apartment, COME ON of course they hooked up.

  • Garden

    @gee:
    Yep. Leo broke her heat and now she’s pissed, that’s how it looks to me.

  • guess

    wooww omg he looks amazing…go leo!!

  • Picket

    @an:
    She’s hooked up with a couple of other people.

  • mee

    From the streaming, I saw them meeting in front of the panel to get the photos, greeting and smiling to each other very briefly, taking photos and parting ways. He touched her shoulder, before leaving to sign autographs. To me it looked like a collegue thing, nothing more. Neither of them lingered towards the other

  • Point

    Guys they all hook up with people. That’s how they advance their career

  • Busted!

    I actually quite like the dress on Margot, and yes it pains me to admit it but I see it too, these two totally had relations at some point, all the acting skills in the world couldn’t cover it up. *Dirty, dirty Leo!*

  • mee

    I like the dress when the skirt makes a balloon. But I like fashion boldness and experimentation…

  • mee
  • Margot

    Margot is bland and average looking

  • mee
  • also…

    Margot is a `miss` on this photos. The only good thing about her look is the color of the dress but even that can`t save her from a disaster. JMO. The dress, the hair…a mess. Just like that apron thing she wore for a screening. I don`t know what it is? The lack of style, stylist or she is just trying too hard? She should stick to the NYC WOWS premiere look. That was flawless, natural and very flattering. Unlike her last two appearances.
    Leo… I`m on the fence on him. The hair is slicked back but not the horrible slicked back style. I don`t really like the checkered suit… I don`t love his look and I don`t hate it either.
    I agree that they seem pretty awkward. I think they ( might have ) hooked up during WOWS and it was a hit and run with awkwardness remaining. I also Ok #6 that Margot seems to be a strong character unlike the airhead barely legal kiddies Leo prefers. Either or both add to the awkwardness between them.

  • Brazilian Girl

    yummy Leo!!

  • also…

    I`m on the fence about him.
    I also agree with OK #6

  • S

    Yes! Another grey suit, my favorite so far. So handsome!

  • She plays around with him ;)
  • Margot

    I think they definetly hooked up. Does anybody remember the Academy conversations or whatever? He didn’t even make eye contact with Margot. Not once.

  • also…

    @Margot: I think it’s both. That they had something going on and that she has a personality. A woman like that must be intimidating for Leo. A WOMAN must be intimidating for Leo. Funny idea: maybe Margot pulled a Blake Lively on him? lol

  • Margot

    @also…I think she is really intimidating to him. I disagree that Toni is a bimbo, she seems like a decent girl, but Margot seems alot more willful/strong/bolder than his GFs. Blake seemed kinda the same way. Anyways I feel like they definetly hooked up. What do you mean pulled a Blake Lively on him, like made him fall for her on set?

  • guess
  • @35

    I think pulled a blake lively means she means dumped him, also does anyone else have a feeling that Toni does not really like Leo having all the attention from the world, she always seems to pull a strop or a no show whenever he’s doing something influential in his career. Yes she likes the perks and the additional exposure for herself, which hasn’t really amounted to much!, but she wants the spotlight on her, I think she’s as fame hungry as Bar. You can tell she wants to be the next Gisele, Karlie Kloss or something, a power woman in the industry. But her childishness might hinder her for sometime until she matures with age.

  • pl

    They look good together.

  • also…

    @ Margot: We disagree on Toni 100%. I’m with @35 about her. As someone said on the previous thread Toni seems to be vain and ambitious.
    And yes, by pulling a Blake Lively I meant he ( maybe ) got dumped by a (nother) woman with brain, personality and self esteem.

  • Margot

    @also…I think it is unfair to judge toni. she seems a little bit vain, but shes a model, and its kinda her job to post pictures of herself and promote herself. I never had a problem with her. I like her way better than Bar and Blake.
    And I don’t think he got dumped by her, because i don’t think they were actually dating. I was thinking more like they hooked up and leo feels like a jerk for treating her like a booty call/just a hookup and thats why he feels akward around her.

  • Margot

    at least that was the impression I always had.

  • ####

    @Margot:

    I was thinking they hooked up a few times during filming, maybe hung out too and just ended it when filming ended so they’re just awkward together because they had a fling! LOL

  • ####

    @Margot:

    IMO she is trying to promote herself as being Leo’s girlfriend by “over-promoting” herself with Leo’s mom and her boyfriend. And she is immature but I chalk that up to her age so it is expected.

  • also…

    @Margot: Well, Bar and Blake did the same thing that Toni does. Promoting themselves. But Toni seems smug and immature about it. I don`t see the difference or how does it matter that he is a model while posting those photos. Only some of them are work photos and the rest is about her private life…

  • bkm

    @stupid leo:

    absolute truth
    absolute truth
    absolute truth

  • @26

    She’s OK, she always overdoes the make up IMO and I think she looks so much like Jamie Pressley. I 100% think she and Leo bootycalled each other during filming and it’ll be interesting how this takes her career Aussie girls on the path for fame tend to be very jealous of each other

  • affair

    Sex sex sexyyy

  • Smug?

    @also…: What exactly has Toni done to garner the “smug” title? You keep using that word, and I’m curious as to why?

  • @1

    Feel SM has the same vibes as his grandma, so Russia maybe? or at least Eastern Europe? On russian immigrant to Germany or USA?
    I also feel they have one common friend and this friend is very very famous. Not Jennifer like someone said here. Bigger. But it’s not through this person they will meet though.
    And I feel she is a filmmaker or somehow connected to the industry (not an actress)
    She has an amazing potential in this field. She’s so creative and talented. Here I get a bit of James Cameron spirit, don’t know why…
    And Angelina of course. The SM is as wild as Angie, In a good sense. You know, piloting jets and making movies and all those crazy ideas…
    She spends lot of her time in “dirty” places- with people and animals that are in need, just like Angie. Oh, the SM has a HUGE heart. She’d give her life for a homeless person or a homeless dog. That’s why I get this cinderella feeling around her – beauty in dirty clothes. She definitely doesn’t give a damn about brilliants or gold or Porsches. She’d sell them and give the money to those people who are dying. She loves the adoption idea, just like Angie. She would definitely adopt later in her life. And yeah, I absolutely agree, she doesn’t look like Angie (she is blonde) by the attitude is the same. People just can’t take their eyes of her.
    If only the SM was in the right place in the right time. She was put down all her life, I feel. She deserves a career break-thru. I meeting Leo will be liberating thing for her. And for him too. That’s what trueflames are about.
