Olivia Cooke Says Shaving Her Head For 'Dying Girl' Made Her Sad & Invisible
Olivia Cooke meets back up with Thomas Mann at the Me And Earl And The Dying Girl premiere held at the Sunshine Landmark on Wednesday night (June 10) in New York City.
The twosome were all over the place earlier in the day promoting their new film, with RJ Cyler and Katherine Hughes, plus Connie Britton and Molly Shannon.
Octavia Spencer is also pictured at the premiere.
Speaking with Nylon, Olivia chatted about the looks she received after she shaved her head for the role.
“Walking down the street [when I had hair], I didn’t realize how aware I was of the looks I got from men and how that made me feel. Once that was taken away, it made me sad because I felt invisible, and I didn’t feel attractive or desired, which is a weird thing that I wasn’t really aware of anyway,” she shared.
Olivia continued, “People aren’t inclined to talk to you”mainly men”because there’s not a lot in it for them, you’re not their ‘type.’ It didn’t make me feel liberated or free or anything like that, which people said it would. It made me feel really angry that beauty standards for women are just so inaccessible.”
Me And Earl And The Dying Girl is out in theaters TODAY!
FYI: Olivia wore a Christopher Kane dress, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, AS29 jewels and a Corto Moltedo clutch. Connie is wearing Jerome C. Rousseau shoes.
