Randy Quaid Taken Into Custody While Trying to Enter the U.S.
Randy Quaid is pictured in a photo taken by the Vermont State Police while standing in the barracks on Friday (October 9) in St. Albans, Vermont.
The 65-year-old actor and his wife Evi Quaid were both taken into custody when they tried crossing the border from Canada into the United States.
Randy and Evi fled the United States after they skipped several court appearances for felony vandalism charges filed in 2010. They had been found squatting in the guest house of a home they once owned, according to THR.
Evi was granted citizenship after they arrived in Canada, but Randy was denied permanent residency and he was facing deportation from the country next week. Now that they are in the United States, the couple is being held in separate correctional centers with bail set at $500,000 each.
Randy, best known for his work in the movies Independence Day and National Lampoon’s Vacation, is also the older brother of Dennis Quaid.
