Hayden Panettiere Is Being Treated for Postpartum Depression

Hayden Panettiere has voluntarily checked into a treatment facility to seek help for her battle with postpartum depression, her rep confirms to JustJared.com.

The 26-year-old Nashville actress’ rep released a statement saying she “is voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment center as she is currently battling postpartum depression. She asks that the media respect her privacy during this time.”

Hayden gave birth to her first child with partner Wladimir Klitschko, a baby girl named Kaya, back in 2014.

Just a couple weeks ago, Hayden made an appearance on Live! with Kelly & Michael where she discussed her struggles and how they are similar to her Nashville character Juliette Barnes’ own issues.

“She went through that, which is something that I can very much relate to, and something that I know a lot of women experience,” Hayden said. “When [you’re told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child.’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings. It’s something, I think, that needs to be talked about, and women need to know that they’re not alone.”

People talk about ppd like it is a normal thing to have when you have a baby, which it is–but- when the child gets older it can also be challenging and overwhelming and depressing. And people act like it is not normal to have ppd for a 5 or 6 or 7 year old child but it is just as hard when they are older and you have to continually put them before yourself which is hard!

    Well said.

Young immature mother is more prone to have this, they think had child was easy glamorous all happy, but when reality sinked in how hard to put child needs before her, it’s all going downhill there.
So spoiled celebs don’t breed before you’re out of your partying stage duh.

Yes because mental health issues care whether or not you are a party animal or a homebody, or whether or not you are 20 or 40, good logic you have there.

The part about young mothers being more likely to develop ppd is correct, I don’t think Hayden is known for being a partyer or spoiled though. I think it is likely often because of something similar to what you’ve said such as it being harder than they expect and difficult to cope. I wouldn’t be so harsh though, everyone has expectations of how things will be when they have their first child and it is seldom what they expect. She is 26 years old, not that young really to assume she is immature or spoiled.

    I wish her the best.

What about older moms in their 30s? They suppose to have it to. Also her baby not around to help her. That goes for all moms. Wonder does Rachel bilson have that problem to? She never mention that she has problems like that to. Glad she is seeking help for it.

Try to say her baby daddy not around to help her with the baby to.

I think 26 years old mentality right now isn’t exactly the same with 26 years old back then.
Back then most people already had more than one baby at 26, but now so many people in city were waiting until almost 30 to have their first child.
    So there’s that.

I remembered the same thing about Reese Witherspoon, being first time mother at early 20, seemingly not depressed back then but complained she can’t get out as much as her single friends did, but now after three kids later and 2 husbands, she seems to have midlife crisis with her drunken way.
