Ryan Murphy's 'American Crime Story: Katrina' is Currently 'Stalled'

It’s beginning to sound like we may never get to see American Crime Story: Katrina, the planned second season of the Ryan Murphy anthology series.

The season was supposed to air in the beginning of 2018 followed by the third season, focusing on the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace.

Despite several of the key roles being cast months ago with Dennis Quaid, Annette Bening, and Matthew Broderick all attached to star, the show has not yet begun production. The Versace season instead will air in the beginning of 2018 and it is expected that Katrina will air later the year.

Now, director Anthony Hemingway, who worked on the first season of the anthology series and was slated to work on Katrina, says he’s not sure what will happen.

“That just kind of got stalled,” he told THR. “We’re all standing by waiting to find out what’s happening.”

“Nothing has really been done. We haven’t started prep on it at all,” he added. When asked if there is a chance the season won’t happen he said, “Who knows. It’s all up to Ryan Murphy.”
