'Star Wars: Episode IX' Gets a New Writer

Star Wars: Episode IX is changing things up with a new writer, according to THR.

The ninth installment of the Star Wars saga will be written by Jack Thorne, who recently wrote the upcoming Julia Roberts film, Wonder.

The most recent draft of the film was written by its director Colin Trevorrow and his writing partner.

The duo were reportedly working off a treatment by Rian Johnson, who wrote and directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The new film is set to begin filming in January 2018.

Star Wars: Episode IX is expected to hit theaters May 24, 2019.
