Michael B. Jordan & Dakota Fanning Team Up for New Anime Series 'gen:Lock'

Michael B. Jordan and Dakota Fanning are both lending their voices to new anime show gen:LOCK!

The 31-year-old Black Panther actor and the 24-year-old Ocean’s 8 actress join the cast alongside Japanese actor Kōichi Yamadera, as revealed at the 2018 Anime Expo.

In the show, “Earth’s last free society is on the losing side of a global war and desperately seeks recruits to operate the next generation of giant, weaponized robots known as ‘mecha,’” Variety reports.

Michael will voice protagonist rebel pilot Julian Chase; Dakota will play Miranda Worth, “an expert mech pilot and Chase’s love interest;” and Kōichi will portray Kazu Iida, “one of the new recruits transferring from Japan’s military forces to fight alongside Chase in the gen:Lock program.”

Gray G. Haddock, head of Rooster Teeth Animation and the series showrunner, said, “Dakota brings an endearing energy and texture to Miranda that the audience is going to bond with very strongly. Yamadera-san gives Kazu a fantastic balance of attitude and strength, and as anime fans we’re doing our best not to geek out that he’s joined the cast.”

The series will premiere in January 2019 exclusively on Rooster Teeth’s streaming service.
