Bella Hadid Issues Apology After Controversial Shoe Post on Instagram

Bella Hadid has issued an apology to anyone who was offended by the photos she posted to her Instagram Story on Sunday (June 16).

If you missed it, Bella posted photos to her story showing off her shoe at the airport. In the background of the photos, airplanes from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (with the countries’ flags) could be seen.

It appeared as if her boot was kicking the flags, insulting many. You can see the now-deleted photo on Twitter.

Bella posted a lengthy apology to her Instagram Story, which in part, reads, “The photo of my shoe on my story yesterday had NOTHING to do with politics…I never noticed the planes in the background and that is the truth. I would never mean to disrespect these airlines, let alone these amazing countries.”

She continued, “I want to send a sincere apology…I hope you can understand the misunderstanding. I will be more responsible when bringing awareness to all causes, including my beloved Middle Eastern community.”
