Mariah Carey Didn't Expect This to Happen with 'All I Want From Christmas Is You'

Mariah Carey is on the cover of Billboard‘s latest issue, dishing all about her Christmas hit!

Here’s what the superstar had to share with the mag…

On hitting No. 1 with “All I Want for Christmas is You”: “We definitely wanted to kick it into high gear this year with the song to celebrate the 25th anniversary, but I definitely didn’t expect it to hit No. 1 two weeks before Christmas. … I just want to thank everybody. I want the world to have the best holiday ever.”

On how she views Merry Christmas 25 years later: “Originally, I would just nitpick ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You.’ Not about the song itself, but about the vocal: ‘Why didn’t I fix this? Why didn’t I do that?’ Things that would irritate me. Now I just live with it and love it. My relationship with Merry Christmas is better than it was when I first made the album.”

On her plan for celebrating the holiday: “[I like] at least a week of Christmas music and Christmas movies and activities only. When we’re relaxing, no one’s allowed to listen to anything but Christmas music until Jan. 1.”
