Joaquin Phoenix To Star as Napoleon Bonaparte in Biopic Movie 'Kitbag'

Joaquin Phoenix has lined up his first movie role after welcoming a baby with fiance Rooney Mara.

Variety reports that the Oscar winner will play French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in Kitbag.

The film, from Ridley Scott, will center on the infamous General’s origins and his volatile relationship with his wife Josephine.

Napoleon was a big leader in the French Revolutionary Wars and was France’s emperor from 1804 until 1814, leading the country in a series of battles before he was defeated at Waterloo.

He was exiled to the island of Elba and then to Saint Helena, where he died in 1821.

Kitbag comes from the saying “There is a general’s staff hidden in every soldier’s kitbag.”

This is Joaquin‘s first project confirmed since welcoming his first baby with Rooney. If you haven’t seen it, find out the little one’s name and the familial connection here…
