The first look at the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic is out!
StudioCanal has released the very fist image of Marisa Abela as the iconic, late singer in support of the movie, which will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.
There’s a frontrunner to play the late Amy Winehouse in the upcoming biopic Back to Black.
Throughout the search, it was “important to the creative team behind the movie” to cast someone “as authentic as possible to Winehouse’s own background.”
The 48-year-old actor recently came under fire after a photo from a Halloween party he and husband David Burtka threw back in 2011 resurfaced on social media.

“I personally think she is like an icon to R&B and blues and basically the whole culture of music,” she added. “I just love her music and I really was impacted by her whole story – so I would always say that I would love to play her.”
