NBC Cuts Ties with Donald Trump, Pulls Miss USA Pageant

NBC is officially ending its relationship with Donald Trump after he came under fire for comments he made about Mexican immigrants while declaring his candidacy for President of the United States.

The network has announced that it will no longer air the planned Miss USA pageant or the upcoming Miss Universe pageant. Celebrity Apprentice will also not return to the channel.

“At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump,” the statement read.

“To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC . In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in The Apprentice on NBC,” the statement continued.

The news comes just days after Univision announced it will not carry the pageant either.

This 'Celebrity Apprentice' Contestant Got Fired In Part for Not Reaching Out to Bill Cosby

SPOILER ALERT! Do not continue if you haven’t watched tonight’s episode of Celebrity Apprentice.

Keshia Knight Pulliam, best known for playing Rudy Huxtable on The Cosby Show, was fired from Celebrity Apprentice this evening after being admonished for not requesting Bill Cosby‘s help in donating money for the episode’s challenge.

The challenge required that the celeb contestants contact their rich friends to raise money for a bake sale. Keshia was her team’s project manager, and despite her team asking her to contact Bill, she refused. Bill wasn’t mentioned much after that.

Then, when it was time for the Boardroom, Donald and Ivanka Trump and Piers Morgan questioned her. “Did you call Bill?” Donald asked her, to which she responded that she had not.

“I have not talked to Bill Cosby on the phone in I don’t know how long. So for me to pick up the phone, having not talked to you for five years, except for when we run into each other for a Cosby event– I feel that’s not my place to do,” she said.

“I really believe, if you’d called that gentleman, he would’ve helped you, even if you hadn’t spoken to him in years because you were an amazing team with one of the most successful shows ever. So I think it would’ve been a very good call to make for charity. But you have to take responsibility. I think you agree with that,” Donald responded.

It’s important to note that this was filmed before many of the Cosby rape allegations became very public.
