Cynthia Nixon Addresses Losing N.Y. Governor Primary, Says 'I'm Not Discouraged, I'm Inspired'

It’s a very somber night for Cynthia Nixon.

After it was revealed that the 52-year-old actress lost the Democratic primary bid to Andrew Cuomo for Governor of New York, Cynthia took to Twitter on Thursday night (September 13) to share her words of encouragement and thanks for her supporters.

“While the result tonight wasn’t what we had hoped for, I’m not discouraged. I’m inspired. I hope you are too. We have fundamentally changed the political landscape in this state,” Cynthia started off her thread of tweets.

Cynthia continued: “This is more than just a campaign – this is a movement. The movement we’re building isn’t just about one candidate, or one election. It’s about offering a vision of the way things COULD work, if only we have the leadership and the political courage to make it a reality.”

“Thank you all for believing and fighting and leaving it all on the field,” Cynthia concluded. “We started something here in New York, and it doesn’t end today. This is just the beginning. And I know that together, we will win this fight.”

Andrew Cuomo Defeats Cynthia Nixon in Primary for N.Y. Governor

Cynthia Nixon‘s race for governor of New York is over.

The former Sex and the City actress lost the Democratic primary bid to Andrew Cuomo as he runs for a third run as Governor on Thursday (September 13). She had the support of many celebs and people all over the country as she head into the primary election.

The Associated Press projected Andrew the winner just 30 minutes after the polls closed. With about 30% of the precincts reporting, Andrew led Cynthia 66.5 percent to 33.5 percent, or 365,384 votes to 184,594.

In November, Cuomo will challenge Republican candidate Mark Molinaro in the last race for Governor of New York.

Cardi B Endorses Cynthia Nixon After Nicki Minaj Endorses Andrew Cuomo for Governor of N.Y.

Nicki Minaj and Cardi B have been involved in a public feud recently and they are expressing their differing views on politics amid the N.Y. State primary elections.

The rappers both spoke out on social media to reveal the Democratic nominees that they are supporting.

Nicki is supporting the candidacy of incumbent Andrew Cuomo for Governor, Kathy Kochul for Lieutenant Governor, and Letitia James for Attorney General. The night before the election, she tweeted, “‼️‼️‼️New Yorkers & all NYCHA residents its time to get JUSTICE, VOTE Thur. Sept. 13 for Gov. Cuomo, Lt. Gov. Hochul & Tish James. They know how to work for the people to make NY even GREATER. Spread the word. See you at the Polls‼️‼️‼️”

Cardi is throwing her support behind Cynthia Nixon for Governor, Jumaane Williams for Lieutenant Gorernor, and Zephyr Teachout for Attorney General. She wrote on Instagram, “Polls close around 8PM .NEW YORKERS VOTE NOW !!!!!! #cynthia #jumaane”

Tiffany Haddish Wins Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series at Creative Arts Emmys 2018!

Tiffany Haddish is an Emmy winner!

It was announced that the 38-year-old actress won Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her hosting gig on Saturday Night Live at the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

However, Tiffany skipped out on attending the show – and instead sat front row at Christian Siriano‘s NYFW Show.

Joining Tiffany at the show included Danielle Brooks, Sarah Hyland, Whoopi Goldberg, Kim Petras, Carmen Electra, Bethany C Meyers, Cynthia Nixon, Coco Rocha, and Judith Light.

Nico Tortorella was spotted strutting his way down the runway in a sheer look.

Naomi Campbell, Rose McGowan & More Take Part in Ozy Fest

Naomi Campbell and Rose McGowan both took part in day one of 2018 Ozy Fest!

The event took place in Central Park on Saturday (July 21) in New York City. Other speakers that day included Alex Rodriguez, Cynthia Nixon, Common, designer Christian Siriano, and Hillary Clinton!

Ozy Fest promises that you’ll “Hear from leading politicians, best-selling authors and outspoken activists as they debate some of the most profound challenges of our time, and predict where the world is headed.”

Rose took to Twitter after her discussion to tell one publication that she didn’t take aim at Donald Trump, as their headline suggested.

“An electric experience onstage @ozyfest today in Central Park. I talked about bravery and being free minded, but .@thr your coverage got it wrong. I TOOK AIM AT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY FOR PROTECTING A PREDATOR,” she said.
