Dianne Feinstein, a Democratic senator from California, is facing lots of backlash right now on Twitter after she praised Republican senator Lindsey Graham for his “leadership.”
Graham is the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and he was in charge of Supreme Court Justice nominee Amy Coney Barrett‘s confirmation hearings.
As the Republicans wrapped the hearings with a plan to vote on Barrett‘s confirmation, Feinstein gave Graham a hug and she even praised how he handled the hearings.
“Mr. Chairman, I just want to thank you,” Feinstein said. “This has been one of the best Senate hearings that I’ve participated in, and I want to thank you for your fairness and the opportunity of going back and forth… Thank you so much for your leadership.”
People on Twitter are now pointing out Feinstein‘s age for multiple reasons. For one thing, she’s 87 and hugged another person without wearing a mask even though she’s clearly at risk for coronavirus. Also, people are questioning whether there should be an age limit for people serving in office. Others on the opposite spectrum are saying that she’s 87 and still works incredibly hard.
