'House of Cards' Final Season Drops Kevin Spacey, Will Have Eight Episodes

The sixth and final season of House of Cards is set to resume production in early 2018 and Kevin Spacey will no longer appear on the Netflix series.

The streaming services’ content chief Ted Sarandos announced the news on Monday morning (December 4) and added that the final season will contain eight episodes.

Robin Wright is set to take the lead on the last episodes of the show.

“We are excited to bring closure to fans,” he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Production was shut down on House of Cards last month after actor Anthony Rapp came forward with allegations of unwanted sexual advances from Spacey, when Rapp was just 14 and Spacey was 26. Since then, there have been many more claims of sexual assault and harassment made against the Oscar-winning actor.

Netflix Severs Ties With 'House of Cards' Star Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey is officially parting ways with House of Cards and Netflix.

The 58-year-old actor and the streaming service will no longer be working together, following allegations of sexual assault.

In a statement, the company said that they will not be involved in production of the show while Kevin is included and will work with them during the show’s hiatus to figure out an alternative path.

“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey,” Netflix said.

It is rumored that production on the show will resume production after Thanksgiving.

'House of Cards' Producers Are Considering Killing Off Kevin Spacey's Character

House of Cards are exploring different ways to get production of the show back on track following allegations against star Kevin Spacey.

According to Variety, producers are listening to fans suggestions to kill off Kevin‘s character, the villainous Frank Underwood.

This would have the show’s sixth and final season concentrate on his wife Claire, who is played by Robin Wright.

Producers are eager to find a way to move forward with the show as it employs nearly 300 cast and crew members. They are currently reviewing Kevin‘s contract to see if they can legally move forward without him.

There are also reportedly several spinoffs of the show in the works.

Eight 'House of Cards' Employees Accuse Kevin Spacey of 'Predatory' Behavior, Sexual Assault

Eight people who have worked on the set of House of Cards are coming forward with accusations of sexual harassment against the show’s star Kevin Spacey.

CNN has spoken to the employees, who either currently work on the show or worked on it in the past, on the condition of anonymity.

One of the employees alleges that he was sexually assaulted by Spacey while he was driving with the actor to set. When they were just minutes away from their arrival, and while the car was still moving, Spacey allegedly put his hands down the production assistant’s pants.

“I was in a state of shock,” he said. “He was a man in a very powerful position on the show and I was someone very low on the totem pole and on the food chain there.”

The production assistant says he was cornered by Spacey in the actor’s trailer once they arrived on set. The assistant told him, “I don’t think I’m ok with this, I don’t think I’m comfortable with this,” and then Spacey fled the trailer and left set for the day.

“I have no doubt that this type of predatory behavior was routine for him and that my experience was one of many and that Kevin had few if any qualms about exploiting his status and position,” the assistant added. “It was a toxic environment for young men who had to interact with him at all in the crew, cast, background actors.”
