Mindy Kaling Reveals Her Favorite Part About Writing 'Legally Blonde 3' Script!

Mindy Kaling is dishing on Legally Blonde 3!

In a new interview with Access Hollywood, the 41-year-old actress, who is co-writing the script for the new movie, explained how excited she is to be a part of the franchise.

“I love the franchise so much,” Mindy explained. “I love Elle Woods as a character. And when Reese [Witherspoon] asked me if I wanted to write it, I was like, ‘Absolutely!’ I can’t wait to see what people think of the way we’ve written Elle Woods at 40. How Elle Woods is at 40 versus when she was 21 has been really fun to imagine.”

Just a few weeks ago, this original Legally Blonde star revealed if they’re coming back for the new movie, which is scheduled to be released in May 2022.

Luke Wilson Addresses Possibly Returning for 'Legally Blonde 3'

Luke Wilson is dishing on Legally Blonde 3!

During a new interview, the 49-year-old actor addressed the possibility of joining Reese Witherspoon once again in the upcoming third installment in the franchise.

If you forgot, at the end of Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, Elle (Witherspoon) and Emmett (Wilson) tied the knot in Washington, DC.

In his interview, Luke shared his excitement for the new movie, but hasn’t officially been cast yet.

“Of course [I’d do it],” Luke shared with Us Magazine. “As for the Legally Blonde that we’re hearing about now — I don’t know anything than the usual man on the street. And that’s really the truth. I’ve heard they’re writing it and trying to put it together, but they’re keeping it pretty firmly under wraps.”

Also in his interview, Luke gushed about working with Reese.

“I loved working with Reese, and definitely, that’s one of those movies where I never had that happen before to such a degree where when it came out, I’d go back to Texas and there would be little squadrons of girls who would come up at that age, like, 8 to 12 and 14, and they would have all these questions about Elle,” Luke shared. “They’d ask where she was and what she was doing and was she as great as she seemed.”

He added: “It’s just a good feeling. It’s one thing to make a movie people like, it’s another thing to make a movie that does well, but to have one that gets legs because of how people feel about it, that is a great feeling. To have a movie make a jump to generations.”

Earlier this year, it was officially confirmed that Legally Blonde 3 would be debuting in May 2022, with one of Reese Witherspoon‘s famous friends co-writing the script.

Holland Taylor Reveals How She & Girlfriend Sarah Paulson Are Handling Quarantine

Holland Taylor is reflecting on her incredible career, as well as her relationship.

The 77-year-old actress spoke out in an interview with Vulture. Here’s what she had to say…

PHOTOS: Check out the latest pics of Holland Taylor

On quarantine with girlfriend Sarah Paulson: Sarah has a house about five minutes from me. So we spend the long weekend up at her house, and I’m by myself here for two days, and we spend one day together here. So we go back and forth. That’s actually good to be moving around, to have change, because it’s like — life is really, really strange. And of course, I won’t be able to work until this is over. Except for very unusual circumstances. I don’t know what it will be like when actors can really be in a big film production, 150 people…I mean, we’re mostly together, and we both have a little time where you just don’t have anybody to answer to, without any sort of accommodating someone else’s plans. So it’s good for me because I’m older, and I’ve been so independent all my life, so it works out well.”

On Legally Blonde: “It’s a very clever idea, and a really charming entry into the area of women’s rights and the perception of women in our society. And Reese [Witherspoon] is just remarkable. She’s one of our marvelous actresses who has brought a number of roles that will be indelible culturally, and this is one of them. And it was just a classic case of playing a professional person who had real resonance with the audience. And her saying that one line, now I don’t even remember what it was — ‘If you’re going to let one stupid son of a bitch ruin your life…’”

On the privilege of acting: “I would say I think it is interesting to notice in my life that the free agency that I’ve had is not given to many women. And it’s a real privilege and it’s a real gift from good fortune to live an actor’s life, because it’s a highly privileged life. You have a lot of time off. You have a very changeable life. You have a life filled with not only the variety of your activity, but the variety of all the people that you’re thrown in the company of and the different places that you go. I think it’s a matchless life. And I’ve had a long, long, long career that has taken me far and wide and has brought so many remarkable people. Every job usually leaves you with a friend from that job who is a very valuable, savory taste of your life. So it’s a matchless life to have.”

Mindy Kaling Signs On to Co-Write 'Legally Blonde 3'

We’re one step closer to Legally Blonde 3 becoming a reality and someone very exciting has joined the creative team – Mindy Kaling!

It was just announced that Mindy and Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creator Dan Goor have signed on to write the upcoming movie, according to Deadline.

It was first revealed two years ago that a third Legally Blonde movie was in the works and two other writers had written a script. Instead of Kaling and Goor giving that script a revamp, they are going to write an entirely new one.

Mindy is a longtime friend of Reese Witherspoon‘s after they starred in the movie A Wrinkle In Time together.

Reese will be reprising her role as Elle Woods and she’s also producing the movie alongside the original film’s producer Marc Platt (aka Ben Platt‘s dad!).

This is an exciting time for Mindy, professionally, as she created a television series that went number one on Netflix this month.

Luke Wilson Imagines Where 'Legally Blonde's Elle & Emmett Would Be Today

Luke Wilson is definitely open for a third Legally Blonde film.

The 48-year-old Stargirl actor chatted with ET about the franchise getting a possible new movie.

“I have not talked to Reese [Witherspoon] about it, but yeah I always kind of hear rumors here and there,” Luke shared. “Never anything official about them doing another Legally Blonde, but I’d love to do another one. I mean, just that character Reese played was so funny at the time and that has kind of become this iconic character now.”

He also revealed where he imagines Elle and Emmett, who were married in Legally Blonde: Red, White and Blonde, are today.

“I would say they definitely have a few children and I just think that it’d be really funny if Reese had a little mini-me, a version of herself,” Luke added. “I would definitely think that they’d have a couple of children.”

Reese recently gave an update about the status of the movie in a chat with this famous singer.
