Mike Myers will host the 2008 MTV Movie Awards from Universal City’s Gibson Amphitheatre in California on June 1, more than a decade after hosting the show for his first time in 2007.
“Hosting the MTV Movie Awards is like a party, but without having to do beer runs in your mom’s mini van,” the 45-year-old Austin Powers star said in a statement. “We do beer runs in Will Smith‘s four-story motor home.”
Nominees for the popcorn statues will be announced next month. Comedian Sarah Silverman hosted last year.
Myers next stars in the upcoming comedy, The Love Guru, out June 20.

In the comedy, Pitka (Myers) is an American who was left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. He moves back to the U.S. to seek fame and fortune in the world of self-help and spirituality. His unorthodox methods are put to the test when he must settle a rift between Toronto Maple Leafs star hockey player Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco) and his estranged wife. After the split, Roanoke’s wife starts dating L.A. Kings star Jacques Grande (Justin Timberlake) out of revenge, sending her husband into a major professional skid — to the horror of the teams’ owner Jane Bullard (Alba) and Coach Cherkov (Verne Troyer). Pitka must return the couple to marital nirvana and get Roanoke back on his game so the team can break the 40-year-old “Bullard Curse” and win the Stanley Cup.

Jessica Alba and Verne Troyer meet to work on Mike Myers‘ upcoming comedy The Love Guru, in which Alba plays the world’s hottest hockey team owner and Troyer the team coach.
Joining Alba and Troyer as part of the cast will be Myers in the role of an American raised by mystics, “Weeds” star Romany Malco, as Alba‘s character’s estranged husband, and Justin Timberlake as Jacques Grande, the professional hockey player Alba‘s character becomes involved with.
