Here’s a synopsis: a young Ob/Gyn doctor (Kaling) balances her personal and professional life, surrounded by quirky co-workers in a small office.

Also appearing on the show are Mindy‘s The Office co-star Ed Helms and SNL‘s Bill Hader.

The 32-year-old actress recently had a project green-lighted by Fox – Mindy will write, produce, and act in her own series.

The project, tentatively titled Mindy, follows a young OB/GYN doctor who has to balance her personal and professional life while surrounded by quirky co-workers in a small office.

Mindy tweeted about this week’s episode of The Office, saying, “Office season finale tonight, written AND directed by my best friend and occasional mortal enemy, brilliant @bjnovak.”

Fox has given the green light to three new comedies for next fall, including one fronted by Mindy Kaling.

The 32 year-old actress will write, executive produce, and star in the comedy which will be executive produced by Howard Klein.

The yet-to-be-named series centers around an ob/gyn Bridget Jones-type doctor who is trying to navigate her personal and professional lives.

According to Variety, if Mindy‘s pilot earns a permanent spot in the line-up The Office star whose Universal Television deal expires in June, would depart the NBC series and focus instead on her new effort.

The 32-year-old The Office actress would star in, write, and produce the television show.

Mindy‘s brainchild is about a “young Bridget Jones-type doctor trying to navigate both her personal and professional lives.”

If Mindy‘s pilot earns a full episode order, she would depart The Office to work full time on the new series.

Just days before this announcement, Mindy‘s The Office co-star Rainn Wilson was reportedly offered a spin off series for his character on the hit NBC show.
