Denmark’s King Frederik X has taken the throne after the abdication of his mother Queen Margrethe II.
The 55-year-old royal waved to the thousands of attendees alongside his wife Queen Mary on Sunday (January 14) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Margrethe announced her abdication after more than five decades on the throne.

Crown Prince Hussein and Rajwa Al Saif are married!
The heir to the Jordanian throne wed Rajwa in a gorgeous royal wedding in Amman, Jordan on Thursday afternoon (June 1), in front of their family, friends, and the who’s who of royal couples and heirs.
The UK’s William and Catherine, Prince and Princess of Wales, made a surprise appearance at the nuptials alongside Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi; The Netherlands’ King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima attended with their eldest daughter, Princess Catharina-Amalia; Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel; and Belgium’s King Phillippe and his heir, Princess Elisabeth, were also there.
Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon, and Spain’s King and Queen Emeritus Juan Carlos and Sofia also attended.
USA’s First Lady Jill Biden was also there with her daughter, Ashley Biden.
Rajwa was walked down the aisle by her new brother-in-law, Prince Hashem, as Hussein‘s sisters Princesses Iman and Salma followed.
Hussein‘s parents – Queen Rania and King Abdullah II – were already seated at Zahran Palace.
Following the ceremony and signing of the marriage contract, Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa were driven in the “Sheer Rover” to their reception.
Rajwa will now be styled as Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein.
Her dress was a custom Elie Saab gown that featured over 13 lbs of pearls, crystals and beads.
Princess Iman just had her own royal wedding a few months ago.

The Danish Royal Family has revealed their plans for the upcoming holiday season.
The news comes a few months after Queen Margrethe II stripped a few of her grandchildren of their prince and princess titles in an effort to slim down the royal family for future generations.

Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik has publicly announced support for his mother Queen Margrethe’s decision to strip four of her eight grandchildren of their royal titles.
The four grandchildren are the sons and daughter of his younger brother, Prince Joachim.
“My mother has made this decision alone, because it is what she can do and it is what she wants,” Frederik told B.T. “And she thought now was the time to make a decision that I also support and see as the right thing to do.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has apologized for her actions during a recent event during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 48-year-old Australian-born royal came under fire after she was pictured shaking hands and not wearing a mask on an official visit to the Grenaa sea aquarium this week.
Mary mistakenly went against the Danish National Board of Health guidelines and shared her regrets on Instagram, where she was wearing a mask.
“On land, at sea and in the air — we have to get used to wearing a mask. It is important that we all follow the health authorities’ recommendations together,” Mary wrote in the caption.
She continued, “Yesterday I was in Grenaa for my first official visit after the summer holidays. At sea and in the air it went fine, but on land I made a mistake and I unfortunately shook hands. It reminded me how important it is that we help each other live up to the recommendations.”
“Stay safe and take care of each other,” Mary added.
Mary is married to Crown Prince Frederik, and they have four children together, heir Prince Christian, Princess Isabella and twins, Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent.
