'Riverdale' Season Four Premiere Will Honor Luke Perry

Season four of Riverdale will kick off with a tribute to Luke Perry.

Showrunner Robert Aguirre-Sacasa announced on Wednesday (June 19) that the hit CW show will be honoring the late 52-year-old actor in an episode titled “In Memoriam.”

“Probably the most important episode of #Riverdale we’ll do this year, if not ever. A tribute to our fallen friend. Thankful for this opportunity to honor Luke & Fred. β€οΈπŸ†πŸ’ŽπŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ’»” Robert tweeted.

Luke‘s last appearance on Riverdale aired back in April and the absence of his character, Fred Andrews, has not been addressed on screen yet.

Luke passed away in March after suffering a stroke.

Riverdale season 4 premieres October 9 on The CW.

Ashleigh Murray Joins 'Riverdale' Spin-Off Series 'Katy Keene'

Ashleigh Murray has signed on for the new Riverdale spin-off series Katy Keene!

The 31-year-old actress, who currently plays Josie McCoy on Riverdale, is set to star in the new CW pilot, which was just announced last week, Deadline reports.

Katy Keene hails from Riverdale creator/executive producer Robert Aguirre-Sacasa.

The musical dramedy centers on four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway, and in the recording studio.

Josie, now 20-something, will set off “on a new adventure to make it in the big city. More determined than ever to break into the music scene as the next Diana Ross, Josie finds herself forging new friendships, falling into new relationships, and, one day, becoming the star she is destined to be.”

If Katy Keene is picked up to series, Ashleigh will be leaving Riverdale.

β€œKaty Keene takes places years after Riverdale High School,” CW president Mark Pedowitz said. β€œThere are no plans to do anything [regarding a crossover]. Any of the Riverdale characters who come to Katy Keene will be older. Robert is getting the pilot right.”
