Legendary Bollywood actress Sridevi‘s cause of death has been revealed as drowning after falling unconscious in a hotel bathtub.

The Dubai police tweeted the tragic news, writing, “Following the completion of post-mortem analysis, #DubaiPolice today stated that the death of Indian actress #Sridevi occurred due to drowning in her hotel apartment’s bathtub following loss of consciousness.”

They added, “#DubaiPolice has transferred the case to #Dubai Public Prosecution, which will carry out regular legal procedures followed in such cases.”

The star was in Dubai to attend a wedding at the time of her death. She was only 54 years old. RIP.

The actress was reportedly in Dubai to attend a wedding when she went into cardiac arrest, according to Huffington Post.

Sridevi, who is credited as the first female superstar of Bollywood, is survived by her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters, Khushi and Janhavi.

Indian actress Priyanka Chopra is among the stars reacting to the news. She tweeted, “I have no words. Condolences to everyone who loved #Sridevi. A dark day. RIP.”
