The 40-year-old entertainer will be hitting the big screen next year for the movie version of the hit Broadway show Rock of Ages.

“I play a gentlemen’s club owner and her name is Justice Charlier and she has to try to be a light in a dark place. [My role] is to make these chicks feel better about their lives and move past the strip club,” Mary J. told MTV News.

As for the vibe of the movie, which co-stars Tom Cruise, Diego Boneta, and Julianne Hough, “[It's] a lot of ’80s classic rock that I’m signing: Pat Benatar, Journey even. It’s fun.”
