Zendaya & Yara Shahidi Speak Out on Charlottesville Violence

Zendaya strikes a pose on the red carpet while attending 2017 Beautycon Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Saturday (August 12) in Los Angeles.

The 20-year-old actress was joined at the fifth annual event by her pal Yara Shahidi.

That day, both Zendaya and Yara took to their social media pages to address the violence and rallies in Charlottesville.

“I really don’t know what to say…but this is terrorism. This is America TODAY…not 40 years ago, and your president is silent. Disgusting,” Zendaya wrote.

“Protest should be used to perpetuate progressive politics of universal equity/ love/ acceptance. The picture above, is one of protest. What’s happening in Charlottesville isn’t protest. It’s the manifestation of hate and modern terrorism. It’s the unveiling of the insidious racism that is allowed to prosper within our society. #uva #webuiltthat,” Yara wrote on her Instagram.
