Hugh Grant Talks About Possibly Running for Office One Day

Hugh Grant famously played politicians in the movie Love, Actually and in the limited series A Very English Scandal, and now he’s opening up about possibly being an actual politician in real life.

The 58-year-old actor chatted with Variety about running for office while appearing on an episode of the podcast The Big Ticket with Marc Malkin.

“I have thought about it a bit to be honest,” Hugh said about running for office. “My main slogan would be, ‘I Don’t Want to Be Reelected.’ It seems to me that the desire to be reelected or be a career politician poisons everything.”

Hugh says there’s something keeping him from running though.

“My cupboards are full of skeletons. There’s so much muckraking that could go on. I could take it. I’ve been taking it now for a long time, but I’m not sure I want my family to suffer that. It’s not really about me. It’s about my family,” he said.
