Allee Willis Dead - 'Friends' Theme Song Co-Writer Dies at 72
Allee Willis, the co-writer of the Friends theme song “I’ll Be There For You,” has sadly passed away at the age of 72.
The Grammy-winning songwriter died on Christmas Eve, her longtime partner Prudence Fenton confirmed on Instagram. In reference to one of the Earth, Wind, & Fire songs that she co-wrote, he posted, “Rest In Boogie Wonderland Nov 10,1947-December 24, 2019.”
In addition to the Friends theme song, Allee also helped write “September” and “Boogie Wonderland” for Earth, Wind & Fire. She also was the co-writer of the Broadway musical The Color Purple.
Allee‘s cause of death was reportedly cardiac arrest.
