Selena Gomez to Host Global Citizen’s 'Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World'

Selena Gomez has an exciting new project!

The 28-year-old Rare singer will host a multi-network broadcast and streaming special “to inspire confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine and support equitable vaccine distribution,” per THR.

The concert will also feature performances from Jennifer Lopez, the Foo Fighters, H.E.R., J Balvin and Eddie Vedder.

“I’m honored to be hosting VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World,” Selena said in a statement. “This is a historic moment to encourage people around the world to take the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them, call on world leaders to share vaccine doses equitably and to bring people together for a night of music in a way that hasn’t felt possible in the past year. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

The 90-minute version of the concert will stream on Global Citizen’s YouTube channel and will include additional performances by NCT 127 and YouTube creators Daniel El Travieso, Kati Morton, ShootforLove, Thembe Mahlaba and The Try Guys.

Global Citizen will also call on philanthropists and corporations to donate “dollars-for-doses” in order to vaccinate over 27 million health workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic in some of the poorest nations. The organization will also call on activists and advocates to urge world leaders to work towards equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
