Kristin Chenoweth & Idina Menzel Respond to 'Wicked' Feud Rumors During Show's 20th Anniversary

Both Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel called out the rumors…

“I’d like to speak on this,” Kristin told Vulture when asked about rumors that she and Idina feuded on set, especially after they competed with each other for a Tony Award. “After a certain amount of time after we opened, my mom was dealing with cancer. I was emotional and I was thinking about some other things. To me, there was no way that I would win a Tony. Yes, it’s the two girls as leads. But it’s Elphaba’s story. I needed to deal with that part of me. I was very emotional. I tried to push it out, I mean, if only people knew.”

Idina chimed in, calling out the sexism of the rumors. “Unfortunately people like to do that to women. They can’t be supportive of one another. You have to put all this conflict in there,” she said, adding, “We were tired and extremely supportive of one another.”

In fact, earlier in the interview, Kristin revealed that how Idina being cast affected her experience with the show in a positive way.
